#1 Removing every road block, when others only talks

There is one person wrote an RPC (when there wasn’t many mature such thing) framework .

build an internal “HA proxy”.

Also guide system team build a dev-ops (at 2011) systems and we simplly called it “brain storm” .

Sharded database vertically then after few months also horizontally.

And all these , 90% done by the “magic man” , our CTO . When this guy hears problem, immediately got excited and thinking different solutions day and night, researching , testing and then production . whatever it takes, how long it takes, he will make it happen .

A Few Things I have observed

  • When there is a problem, people only talks about it ,some are huge challenges, like sharding (verticle and horizontal) database, decouple services (there wasn’t microservice at 2011 by the way) ,he got extremely excited, searching solution until done. In short, he never cares how hard the problem is , will it be possible , only focus on getting the solution right, whatever it takes, his confident and passionate is always there to make it happen.
  • When other devs persue ”clean code” and refactor the same code again and again (yes, I have seen many times, things got over optimized and time wasted) to…
